In the first video of this new series “Azure Partner Vision,” we hear from Microsoft partners directly on the topic of innovation. We explore how they use the power of Azure Internet of Things (IoT) technology in new, thought-provoking ways  to open opportunities to digitally transform their customers’ businesses. The goal of this series of shorts is to share specific insights and learnings surrounding areas of opportunity where partners can unlock value for their customers.

Signify is innovating with visible light communication (VLC) technology. Its Interact brand supports lighting-based IoT applications such as space management and indoor location services. Derek Wright, Senior Director Alliances at Signify, explained, “We use Azure to bring back X, Y, and Z coordinates to applications that help customers find screw drivers in a DIY store, for example.”

Lou Lutostanski, VP of Internet of Things at Avnet, explains how his organization is innovating with solutions like its IoTConnect platform. “We make it easy for independent software vendors (ISVs) to write IoT applications by offering devices that are ready to connect to Azure—no more worries about security and connectivity.”

Italian partner PORINI applies advanced and analytics artificial intelligence to enable solutions like predictive maintenance in factories. Mario Gennari, Manufacturing Industry Lead at PORINI explained that his organization connects IoT devices to Azure where data is stored. Then AI is applied to the data to predict when failures will occur, which enables manufacturers to proactively maintain equipment.
