New playbook for developing or optimising an IoT Practice

We are excited to announce the Internet of Things (IoT) Practice Development Playbook to help you accelerate or optimize your IoT-focused practice. One of the most exciting and largely untapped partner opportunities is helping customers corral their latent data from devices, sensors, and unconnected software and turn it into useful and profitable information.

Microsoft is investing heavily in the Azure IoT platform and there isn’t a vertical industry that hasn’t already seen breakthroughs from IoT integration. But according to our recent MDC Research study, only 16% of our partners reported having an IoT solution in market. That won’t last long. The remainder of those surveyed reported exploring the use of IoT or conducting proof-of-concept or pilot projects. Among the partners surveyed, 72% reported an increase in business profitability corresponding to the implementation of IoT services, with one third reporting reaching profitability within one year.

It’s the perfect time to be at the forefront of this burgeoning market, helping customers embrace and accelerate the transformative benefits and time-to-value that IoT offerings can deliver.

The IoT playbook is full of partner best practices for developing IoT strategies, driving new revenue opportunities, and building deeper relationships with customers by exposing the new capabilities made possible by IoT data. It offers guidance on the technical skills needed and the strategies for marketing and selling IoT service offerings.

To capture this opportunity, you will need to compete successfully for talent or quickly increase your capabilities through training and internal development. You may need to hire to fill gaps and the playbook can help you get started with the roles and job descriptions for key technical positions. And to help with training and readiness, we include the Microsoft competencies and certifications you’ll need or be working toward, along with the resources and learning paths to increase those skills.

Please use this new (IoT) Practice Development Playbook to build momentum around the IoT opportunity which is expected to more than double to $500 billion by 2023, according to Zinnov.
