I’m happy to share with you that the updates to the Microsoft Partner Network that I wrote about late last year are now live, as of this morning! Beyond taking the first major step towards mainstreaming cloud into the core of MPN, I am very excited about the changes to the Microsoft Action Pack, that will help the vast majority of our partners maximize their Microsoft connection.

Over the past couple of weeks, we have heard feedback about these changes from some partners. Given the feedback, I want to dive in a bit and review the new Microsoft Action Pack universal subscription and explain how its business value goes beyond just the internal technology licenses.

The new Action Pack is designed for partners building a business practice with Microsoft technology. Knowing that many of our commercial partners go to market in multiple ways, we’ve simplified our approach to subscriptions to support this.  Instead of two discrete subscription choices (Service Provider or Development and Design), there is now one universal subscription with more flexibility to explore and leverage resources across business models.  Six Resource Centers have been created based on our partner community’s core value delivery models – choose one, many, or all at no additional cost or administrative hassle.  The Resource Centers are as follows:
  • Professional Services
  • Reselling
  • Application Design and Development
  • Managed Services
  • Hosting
  • Device Design and Development
We have created custom learning paths for each of the Resource Centers. These training recommendations will enable your team to efficiently extend their knowledge and sales and technical aptitude, so your company can be the trusted advisor your customers want.  Of course, you will get the software you need to run your company and prepare to go to market (like Microsoft Windows 8 and Windows Server), plus for the first time integrated access to cloud services software licenses including Microsoft Office 365, Windows Intune, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online.

Your customers have a vast array of needs and the Action Pack broadly helps you address those needs, whether you deliver on-premises, cloud, or hybrid solutions.  Beyond the value mentioned above, additional benefits include:

  • Rights to world class developer tools
  • Technical online and phone support for including pre-sales and deployment advisory hours
  • Bing Search engine credits

Simply put, the new Action Pack helps your company to: Seize the opportunity to expand your solution offerings (cloud, on-premises, and hybrid); Extend value to your customers with comprehensive, quality support options; and Sell to the world’s largest technology base with the most significant partnership opportunities.

I encourage you to visit the refreshed Microsoft Action Pack page and get started:

  1. Choose one or more Resource centers that align to your business.
  2. Download and deploy your internal use software licenses.
Microsoft Action Pack subscribers earn 3X more revenue than Network Members given they engage with more resources we provide and are more committed to Microsoft.  We strongly recommend that you actively utilize your subscription benefits as much as possible to help you succeed in market.

Thank you for your continued partnership –

Julie
