The Value of P2P at WPC

It is WPC time again. Time sure flies quickly. More than 16,000 attendees will be flying to Houston to learn about Microsoft’s product roadmap, to attend the value keynotes and informative sessions during the event and to hear from top Microsoft executives about Microsoft´s strategy for the upcoming years. Big Data and Cloud will surely be some of the hot key topics, along with Devices & Mobility and Enterprise Social.

But let´s not forget that one of the greatest benefits of attending WPC is the irreplaceable opportunity to mingle with your fellow partners and Microsoft staff. Business requires a personal touch and face-to-face meetings are a great way to start a business relationship, review your business strategy with a current partner or Microsoft manager, and gather feedback and best practices from fellow attendees. This collaboration and communication of ideas enables us to live up to the theme of WPC 2013: Accelerating Growth. Together.

Commit yourself to proactively contact people through WPC Connect, at breakfast, at break time, at lunch, at the happy hours from 4:00-5:30pm on Monday and Tuesday, and at all of the hundreds of networking opportunities. When attending a session, make it a habit to introduce yourself to the person seated next to you. You will be surprised how much you can both gain at the professional level—and at the personal level as well.

One of the main pillars of the IAMCP (International Association of Microsoft Channel Partners) is P2P: partner-to-partner networking. Visit their web page (www.iamcp.org) to get in contact with your local chapter or visit their booth at WPC, located at CC-10.

No partner (regardless of their size) has all the expertise, skillsets or geographical coverage to do it all. P2P facilitates overcoming these barriers and enhances your business opportunities, which ultimately results in a stronger overall partner network; therefore, it is a win-win for all.

So challenge yourself to meet new people every day. Set a goal, use tools like the Meeting Scheduler on WPC Connect, and go for it!
