Today, I’m happy to share some updates regarding Surface availability in the channel.

To address commercial customer demands, we are introducing the Surface Disti-led Commercial Program in Japan and Hong Kong which enables existing Surface distributors to resell Surface beyond the ADR channel. Available now, we are excited about the opportunity this will deliver for our partners in these markets.
In the United States we are also adding VARs that meet the criteria required to resell Surface to the public sector, including government entities and educational institutions, as we heard from our customers in this space that their specific purchasing criteria often made it difficult for them to locate a partner to purchase Surface devices from directly. These new partners will meet specific government procurement requirements while also delivering a variety of value-added services to the Surface family, such as asset tagging, custom imaging, kitting, onsite service and support, device recycling and data protection. We’re excited about this news. With Surface commercially available in 28 markets around the world, the updates we’re announcing today allow us to continue expanding Surface availability in alignment with Surface Pro 3 customer demands and market opportunities.
We know that there is still work to be done, and more opportunity ahead. I’m excited about the steps we’re taking today.
