The roll-out of Windows 10 began on July 29, and we couldn’t be more excited!
As you already know, Windows 10 is a free upgrade* for customers running Windows 7 or 8.1, Home and Pro, including customers who have purchased Windows Pro. Enterprises and organizations who have Volume Licensing can upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise starting on August 1. It’s likely our mutual enterprise customers have been anticipating Windows 10 and are already exploring what it means for their businesses. I’m sure you’re heavily engaged in conversations with them about how your organization can support them, so I want to make sure you know about resources we’re making available to help you in those discussions.
Demand generation. Part of our role is to help drive customer demand for Windows 10, so you can concentrate on sales. Windows 10 has been central to Microsoft’s messaging since it was first announced last year, and the excitement has been building ever since. To drive broad awareness and interest in Windows 10, Microsoft is investing heavily in marketing, including:
  • Customer advertising campaign. We want people to be excited about the Windows 10 upgrade and the new era of Microsoft it represents, so we’re celebrating the launch as part of the global initiative Upgrade Your World. The Windows 10 campaign features children around the world who will only know technology that is natural, human, intuitive, and responsive – like Windows 10. This warm and welcoming campaign highlights key features of Windows 10 through TV spots, online videos, social media marketing, and print ads. Read more about how we’re welcoming a new Windows 10 generation on the Windows blog. Ultimately, a goal of our efforts is to take the burden of marketing Windows 10 off of you, so you can concentrate on what you do best: fulfilling your customers’ needs.

  • Live site. This business-focused Windows 10 site will help make clear the advantages of the operating system by detailing the enhanced data protection, exceptional mobility and portability, app integration, and security of Windows 10. It’s a great way to showcase the power of the program with both IT professionals and Line of Business owners.

  • Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation. Test business applications and begin deployment planning now by downloading and installing a free 90-day Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation. As of August 1, Software Assurance customers are invited to download Windows 10 Enterprise from the Microsoft Volume Licensing site.
Windows 10 Learning Series. This comprehensive set of training resources will help you be comfortable in conversations with customers and potential customers. To date, more than 7,000 partners have attended a Windows 10 Learning Series session. With sessions ranging from Windows 10 for the Enterprise to Windows 10 for IoT, this series can help enable your sales force to speak knowledgeably across a wide range of questions.
Enterprise edition IURs. We know that partners who exercise their Internal Use Rights (IURs) sell more because they’re often more knowledgeable about and comfortable with the solutions they’re selling. We want all our partners to feel comfortable with Windows 10, so we’ve made the Windows 10 Enterprise upgrade available to all Action Pack and Competency partners. Existing partners can access their Windows licenses on the partner download portal; to learn more about Windows 10 IURs, visit the IUR cloud and software benefit page on the MPN Portal.
Technical services for Windows 10. We want you to succeed with Windows 10 right out of the gate, so we’re providing a host of resources to help you be ready. The technical services which you can access from this site – and which are provided as part of your MPN core benefits – will help enable your consultants to win more deals, faster. Understand what’s new in the new operating system, and how you can leverage the new functionality of this powerful platform to grow your business.
New Go-to-Market assets. The Windows 10 Partner Marketing Center site is your gateway to a rich set of resources for engaging with customers and demonstrating how Windows 10 can benefit users, particularly businesses. From marketing assets you can use to build a pipeline of new business, to customer-ready presentations and sales tools you can use to close that business, these customizable, turn-key resources enable you to seize quickly and efficiently the various partner opportunities created in the wake of the launch of Windows 10. To date, more than 20,000 of you have downloaded Windows 10 content from the site.
As Terry Myerson, Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices Group, said during his Vision Keynote at Worldwide Partner Conference, Windows 10 is an opportunity to help people and organizations upgrade their world and do even more for their community. But our ability to help individuals and organizations do more depends in large part on you, our partner network. That’s why we’re investing and will continue to invest in your success.
*The free upgrade offer applies to Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro, and Windows 10 Mobile for qualifying Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices that upgrade in the first year after launch. More information about the free upgrade offer can be found at Windows.com
