It’s an amazing time to be part of the modern workplace, as technology makes it easier for all of us to work together to reinvent productivity and be more connected. And I’m thrilled to work with our vibrant partner ecosystem, helping us to bring this to life every day through Microsoft’s products and services.
To further our commitment to transforming the future of the modern workplace, we’ve just announced another great way to join in the vision and create more opportunity with our partners. One of the best tools we have to offer just got even better: Microsoft Office 365.
Currently, 85 percent of the Fortune 500 are using Office 365, and there are good reasons for that. Since its launch in June of 2011, our productivity platform has been helping businesses communicate, collaborate, and innovate in the cloud. With the additions of Power BI, Yammer, and single sign-on capabilities to Office 2013, we took a giant leap into the future, enabling businesses to do self-serve data mining to uncover major insights previously hidden in spreadsheets. In 2014, subscribers received unlimited OneDrive storage with the best-in-class security of the Office 365 platform.
And now we’ve added new features to help make your business even more productive and profitable. Kirk Koenigsbauer announced the worldwide release of Office 2016 in a blog today, so be sure to read the post for detailed information on the powerful new functions you’ll enjoy. Here’s a brief overview of some of the new features:
  • ProPlus subscribers are now able to opt for the Current Branch feature, enabling them to install updates three times a year. This allows businesses to stay up to date while minimizing disruptions to their end users.

  • We’ve added more support for Data Loss Prevention and Multi-Factor Authentication.

  • Co-authoring in Word is now real-time, allowing you to see what others are writing as it happens and delivering a more seamless teamwork experience.

  • Modern Attachments makes attaching documents to emails incredibly quick and efficient.

  • I’m personally excited about the Tell Me feature which reminds me how to do something I don’t do very often, like insert a row in a Word table.
The rollout of Office 2016 provides some great opportunities for our partners to reach new and existing customers as well as to continue to grow their cloud business. In order to fully leverage the momentum of Office 2016 for your business and customers, here are some simple steps you can take to get started today:
  1. If you don’t have the preview, download and install Office 2016 from your Office 365 portal.

  2. Get familiar with the product, then tell your customers how to get the most from the new features. If they haven’t upgraded, help them navigate their questions on why they should.

  3. Take an in-depth look with our Modern Workplace webcast, available on-demand. Watch the demo, share it with your customers, and get as excited as we are about the opportunities Office 2016 presents for partners and our mutual customers.
