Hello Partners!

We are less than one month away from WPC 2014! Are you excited? We sure are!

WPC is invaluable for partners. There’s incredible content to help guide your business, unmatched networking opportunities, and experiences that are practically an event within an event, including the vision keynote experience and the sessions that are part of the Leadership, Sales, & Marketing track. The best-of-the-best Microsoft partners know that WPC is where you have the most opportunity to connect one-on-one with Microsoft experts. Watch one of our partners share his WPC experience, offering tips, tricks, and best practices applicable to FTAs and seasoned attendees.

In preparation, here are a few useful tips to help you get the most out of WPC. These tips are simple and easy, but they will amplify the impact of the Worldwide Partner Conference for your business and lay the groundwork for lasting innovation. We’ve also included some other advice to make sure your experience is efficient and fun.

  Before you go
  • Network on WPC Connect before you arrive; schedule meetings and sessions with partners and Microsoft attendees. Export to your Outlook calendar to keep everything in one place.
  • Download the mobile app—coming in early July, the app is integrated with WPC Connect and OneNote so you have everything you need on the go.
  When you arrive
  • Look out for red lanyards. They identify FTAs (First Time Attendees)—make sure to make an extra effort to connect with these partners.
  • Meet and greet the exhibitors in the expo hall. There are lots of exciting devices and solutions to experience.
  • Meet regional leads in the regional lounges. Every region has its own spot in the Commons where you can meet the Microsoft leads you’ve been working with all year.
  • Check out the track keynotes. Filter session type by track keynote to find the keynotes for Cloud, Big Data, Mobility & Devices, Enterprise Social, and Leadership, Sales & Marketing.
  • Reference the on-site conference guide, and download the pdf on DWPC for updated session rooms and content.
  • Have a margarita on us at the Social Hub during happy hour on Monday and Tuesday—check out the agenda.
  • Are you an all-access pass holder? Bring a friend or family member to the Partner Celebration! Purchase a separate pass/partner celebration ticket for US$100, either through the registration tool or onsite.
  • Purchase an unlocked phone or SIM card to avoid high international data roaming charges.
  Around town
  Packing and travel
  • At most conference hotels, shuttles will take you between your hotel and the convention center every day.

  • You can also take taxi cabs to get around if need be. Fares begin at $3, plus $0.27 per each additional 1/8 mile.
  • When you pack your bags, remember that Washington, D.C. is warm and humid outside, and cool and air-conditioned inside. Layers are key! Bring a sweater, and wear comfortable shoes that will allow you walk a lot.
  After WPC
  • Set aside a few minutes after each day at WPC to organize your contacts and make connections stick.
  • Schedule personal follow-up time—about 30 minutes per day—to send thank-you notes and continue the conversation.
