Trust me, this is THE opportunity for your organization to get recognized at the top level in Microsoft, resulting in more business and the recognition your solution deserve. I still remember the thrill and excitement I had when our solution that we nominated was chosen as a finalist in 2009 Partner of the Year Awards. The congratulations letter itself was an overwhelming experience. In addition to that, we had opportunity to go to some exclusive parties where Microsoft executives were present. It was great interaction and networking with them.
Over the years we have seen the competition getting stiffer and strong as more and more partners solutions are now competing with each other. With all of this competition it can be intimidating for small businesses, but I have seen companies with only 5 to 10 employee able to gain recognition in the past, so don’t let your companies size stop you. Focus on how your solution impacted customer business and how it addressed the customer pain area.
Based on my personal experience of submitting an entry which received recognition, I would like to share following tips for first timers, or for those who are trying but haven’t gotten recognition yet.
  1. Identify the best solution you think which can be nominated with strict criteria.  For example – the technology offering in your solution should be the newest offered by Microsoft. You must clearly define and showcase the impact it made to the customer business, if it is a compete win, nothing like it. Testimonials, publicly visible records like case studies on Microsoft, another site or even on your site can also be provided. It is not mandatory but you can always put a customer video as link in last field where customer explains how you have helped them.
