It’s been just 165 days since many of us gathered in Houston for the 2013 Worldwide Partner Conference, with many more watching online at On the main stage, we heard from our Executive Vice President, Satya Nadella, who spoke about the next shift with the enterprise computing platform. He shared insights on the opportunity ahead and on how we’ll be investing in new services to help partners accelerate business by better serving their customers.


Earlier this month, Satya brought to life many of the opportunities he referenced at WPC. He introduced a wave of new enterprise products and services to help partners better enable our joint customers to seize the opportunities of cloud computing and overcome today’s top IT challenges together. These products and services include:

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 and System Center 2012 R2
  • Visual Studio 2013 and the new .NET 4.5.1
  • Release a second preview of SQL Server 2014
  • For big data analytics, later this month we will release Windows Azure HDInsight Service, an Apache Hadoop-based service that works with SQL
  • Microsoft will offer Enterprise Agreement (EA) customers access to discounted Windows Azure prices
Many partners who attended WPC were able to explore in detail the opportunity to expand their business in the cloud  with representatives from the product groups and make informed decisions on when and how to expand. As a consequence, they have seen their business evolve to take advantage of the enterprise Cloud OS.
