Today we’re kicking off a series of posts spotlighting notable partner stories from around the world. First stop—Chicago, IL.

A Unique Approach

A placement organization with a very cool take on IT staffing called nAblement (part of the SPR Companies family) calls the Windy City home, and serves the Midwest. They target a segment of the candidate pool—the disabled—who frequently can’t get access to the positions they’re professionally qualified for. By offering training and mentorship programs in addition to job placement, they’re making a lasting contribution to not only these individuals’ careers, but to the overall depth and quality of the technology field as well.

A History of Helping

Take a look at this timeline showing the evolution of nAblement’s business. You’ll find some really terrific achievements there. Since the late 1980s, this partner has been responding to developments which directly impact IT job candidates with disabilities, adapting their processes and programs along the way. They recently joined MPS Partners—another channel of SPR—to form a networking and training group called ITKAN, which focuses on the challenges these candidates face. And by sponsoring influential research on the way the productivity and employability of people with disabilities are perceived in technology, nAblement is helping to bridge gaps in public knowledge and foster future awareness.

A Successful Model

Progressive advances in the world of IT staffing isn’t all nAblement has to be proud of—they’re also a respected and successful Microsoft Premier Partner. For a great look at the actual people in this story, check out this trailer for the award-winning documentary about nAblement’s program, ‘Forerunners’. I’m sure you’ll find the employee testimonies to be as moving and inspiring as I did. This partner is truly making a contribution to their community, and leading with a fantastic example.
