I am so excited to share Azure Lighthouse has been recognized as the Managed Service Partner (MSP) Technology category winner of the 2019 CRN Tech Innovator Award. CRN evaluated hundreds of products across 34 technology categories and determined Azure Lighthouse stands out for its technological advancements, uniqueness of features, and potential to help solution providers solve common IT challenges. I am so proud of the work that our Azure engineering team has developed and delivered on behalf of our partners and customers. This is an honor!

The recognition comes less than four months after introducing Azure Lighthouse at Inspire 2019. Since then, a diverse set of partners and enterprise customers have discovered the incredible capabilities the program brings. Our partners are our lifeblood and enabling them through this investment is absolutely paying off. Since July, adoption of Azure Lighthouse has grown 12x, with ~500 Service Providers—including the majority of our Azure Expert MSPs—managing thousands of customer subscriptions for tens of thousands of Azure resources.

Many expert Azure partners have hailed Azure Lighthouse as a game changer for how it enables the governance of Azure resources across multiple customer tenants, while also incorporating automation, differentiation, scale and operational efficiencies into managed service practices. With Azure Lighthouse, customers are always in control of their service provider landscape by delegating precise access to providers at subscription or resource group scope, with granular access roles. Just as important, both customers and partners maintain visibility into actions of each other through Activity Logs, increasing accountability and transparency.

As more and more partners discover Azure Lighthouse, we continue to invest in high-priority security capabilities that are critically important to partners and customers. Some of those new capabilities include:

  • Delegating management privileges for just-in-time scenarios and for select users.
  • Giving customers options to mandate use of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) by service providers.

Azure Lighthouse is built into Azure Resource Manager, enabling integration into any Azure service like Azure Monitor, Azure Sentinel and the newest of our hybrid cloud offerings Azure Arc. Together, Azure Arc and Azure Lighthouse give partners the ability to use native Azure management constructs such as Azure Policy and tagging across Azure and non-Azure Windows and Linux machines in customers’ delegated scopes.

With Azure Lighthouse, a whole new way of cloud management is emerging to support a well-managed, well-secured customer in the cloud through the Microsoft partner ecosystem. We’re grateful to Azure Expert MSPs who have started on this journey with us in early days, inspiring us to envision and build-out more capabilities. We will continue to learn from our partners and customers, as Azure Lighthouse introduces advanced initiatives across multiple management, operations and governance domains.

Thanks again to our partners and to CRN for recognizing Azure Lighthouse with the 2019 CRN Tech Innovator Award.
