We’ve seen the consumerization of IT bring an exciting new set of challenges and opportunities for our partners. With BYOD becoming a commonly accepted practice in many companies, some customers are evolving from models that focus on single, corporate-owned devices toward people-centric models that let their employees access the corporate applications and data they need on whatever device they are using. This greatly increases the mobility and efficiency of their workforces, but also introduces security challenges and complexity.
Some customers look to a mix of vendors and products to address this but can end up with expensive, and still complicated, results. To help ease this pain, we’ve created an offering that addresses these challenges in a simple and more cost-effective way. You know this as the Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) (which includes Azure Active Directory Premium, Microsoft Intune, and Azure Rights Management), and even your customers who are still in transition to the cloud or who have opted for a hybrid approach can use it. Previously, you could only purchase EMS as part of an Enterprise Agreement (EA) with Microsoft.
I am happy to share that there’s good news for partners around EMS on two fronts.
First, EMS is available in Open Licensing on March 1, 2015. Like many of the other cloud-based services that recently become available in Open such as Office 365, Azure or Dynamics CRM Online, the flexibility and potential cost savings of the Open Licensing model makes it possible for distributors and resellers to sell additional cloud services to small and medium-sized enterprises. Today’s announcement provides the opportunity to offer cloud solutions with a low barrier to entry, and the opportunity to add more value as you engage with your customers. The strategic partnerships that form between our partners and resellers have immediate pay-offs and set up additional opportunities down the road.
In addition to this, we want to make sure we’re helping set you up for success when you start to talk to your customers about EMS. The second piece of good news is that starting in early March, Microsoft Action Pack subscribers, along with Silver and Gold competency partners, will get access to EMS and Azure AD Basic as part of their Internal Use Rights (IURs) benefits. This will help you run your internal business, demo EMS to your customers, and perform internal development and testing. Of course you can also use your advisory hours and technical pre-sales support to make sure your team is up to speed on the competitive landscape and getting a proof of concept ready to help you sell the EMS solution. We encourage you to leverage the ModernBiz Business Anywhere sales and marketing materials to help you engage with your customers.
We are excited to continue to improve our offerings in Open and your benefits to enable you, our partners, to take advantage of the changing demands of our mutual customers in order to grow your business.
