Future Decoded learnings – Digital Transformation

In early November, Microsoft held its Future Decoded event, aimed at helping businesses digitally transform so they can grow and succeed.
Hundreds of Microsoft’s partners and customers attended, and they heard from such diverse speakers such as Chancellor Phillip Hammond, who announced a new imitative on cybercrime, Bill Bryson and Paralympian Martine Wright.

We would like to thank all our Future Decoded partner sponsors and the partners that took the time out to attend and host their customers.

Cyber Threats

Phillip Hammond, the Chancellor of the Exchequer was the keynote speaker at Future Decoded, and used it as a platform to strike back against cyber criminals.
The plan, which will have a three-pillar plan of Defending, Deterring and Developing defences to protect citizens will have major implications for our partners, with various opportunities to support the scheme with Microsoft’s suite of security products.
Microsoft has previously highlight the requirement for a new approach to security in today’s mobile-first world, where connected technologies increase user exposure to cyber threats.
This was message was approved of by Microsoft’s UK CEO, Cindy Rose who said, “(We’re all aware that) the mobile-first, cloud-first world holds enormous potential for organisations and individuals to generate new and exciting growth opportunities. However, there is a corresponding risk that as people increase their technology usage, they also increase their exposure to cyber security threats.”
“All participants in the security ecosystem need to work together to ensure everyone can trust the technology they use. The Chancellor’s announcement is the kind of initiative that the UK needs to protect British citizens from the growing threats we face. We welcome the Government’s focus on tackling this significant issue which affects businesses and individuals alike.”

With the recent announcement that HoloLens is now available for developers within the UK, allowing Partners to embrace new, cutting edge technology.
One of the keynote speakers, Chris Bishop, head of Microsoft Research Cambridge stated that: “AI will transform nearly every aspect of our lives.
These changes in technology means that partners will have the access to, and the opportunity to develop their products and offering in very single vertical. From Healthcare through to Retail, the applications of these new technologies are equal to the mobile device boom and the requirement for a different approach within business in how to respond to the requirements of everyone.
Tim Gough, VP of Engineering at Artesian Solutions, a Microsoft Certified Partner, said of the event: “It’s great to see how Microsoft has really cracked some of the AI and VR market, allowing us to really provide products that can push our development skills and delight our customers in a way other partners cannot.”
